Old Parliament House housed Australia’s federal parliament from 1927 to 1988 and now hosts the Museum of Australian Democracy. Preserved working spaces connect formal institutions with the practical routines of government. It belongs here because democratic history includes how representatives actually work, not only constitutional texts. A visit should also consider whose voices those institutions represented at different times, rather than assuming a parliamentary building proves equal participation.
