Court’s 24 career major singles titles are often placed beside Serena’s 23 without an era label. Eleven of Court’s titles belong to the Open Era, the period this list evaluates. Her 1970 sweep of all four majors still gives her an outstanding peak inside our scope; the earlier trophies are acknowledged but not counted here.
She beats Seles on the larger in-scope major total and the calendar Grand Slam. Evert wins above her on more Open Era majors and sustained success. An all-era list would require a different comparison. Fifth is a judgement about the defined period, not a denial that the career total is 24.
