Scorsese takes fourth for making attraction and unease share the same frame. GoodFellas (1990) is our starting film: its criminal world can feel inviting before the cost becomes clear. Watch the movement, editing and music, then ask whose version of events you are accepting.
We prefer that moral friction to Spielberg’s more direct emotional guidance. Kubrick ranks higher for formal variety across genres. A viewer who values restless performance and conflicted characters above carefully controlled distance could put Scorsese in the top three.
