The Coathanger is a star pattern in Vulpecula near Sagitta. Sweep roughly a third of the way from Altair toward Vega, using a chart to confirm the position. Look for a straight bar and a curved hook; its orientation depends on your view.
It outranks Mizar and Alcor for its memorable shape. The Double Cluster wins for two distinct concentrations. This is an asterism: a recognizable arrangement on the sky, not a promise that the stars form one physical cluster.
