United’s wins came in 1968, 1999 and 2008. Three titles put it above Juventus’s two, but five finals leave it behind Inter’s seven in the three-title group. Those victories span both names and formats of the competition.
United converted 60.0% of its finals, better than Inter’s 42.9%. That is a credible reason to reverse them if efficiency is your priority. Our rule instead gives the tie-break to extra final appearances. The 2008 win over Chelsea was decided on penalties.
