AC/DC make a strong argument for doing one thing exceptionally well. Highway to Hell (1979), with Bon Scott, and Back in Black (1980), with Brian Johnson, let a new listener hear the same guitar-led identity across a change of singer. The Rock Hall traces their sound to hard rock and blues, built around emphatic riffs and direct rhythms.

Listen to the title tracks and concentrate on the spaces between guitar phrases, not just their volume. We put AC/DC above Radiohead for the immediacy of their songs and the clarity of their band identity. Their narrower stylistic range keeps them below the more expansive catalogs ahead. A ranking centered on concert energy and riffs rather than reinvention could reasonably put them much higher.
