Seven paintings were stolen from Rotterdam’s Kunsthal in 2012, during a Triton collection loan exhibition. EenVandaag’s 2013 timeline names Picasso, Matisse, two Monets, Gauguin, Freud and Meijer de Haan, and documents conflicting claims about the paintings’ fate.

That concentrated loss across artists puts it above Dresden. Paris edges it for damage to a museum’s own modern-art collection. We do not present reports of burning as an established fate: a missing painting and a proven destroyed painting are different claims.
