The 1969 Boss 429 Mustang carried a 429-cubic-inch V8, catalogued at 375 hp. Ford’s engine history describes the Boss’s aluminium heads and crescent-shaped combustion chambers. It is distinct from the Boss 302.
We place its unusual engine ahead of the GSX’s fuller equipment package, but below the Daytona’s integrated aerodynamic idea. Mustang fans can reverse that choice if the engine matters most. A museum car’s later dynamometer result is not the factory rating and does not decide this ranking; neither does rarity alone.
