A scan is a useful alternative to sending a crooked photograph of a receipt or form. On iPhone, open a note, use the attachment menu and choose Scan Documents. Files by Google offers a Scan tool on supported Android devices and saves scanned documents as PDFs.

Place the paper flat, check the crop and inspect small print before sharing. A multipage document is easier to handle as one file than a string of separate pictures. We put scanning ahead of QR reading because it creates something you can reuse; keep the original when the recipient requires original paperwork.
