Launched in Geneva in March 1961, the E-Type concentrates its effect in an exceptionally long bonnet and a compact cabin. Curves carry the eye from the nose to the rear without relying on large decorative surfaces. We rank it highly for showing how proportion can make a mechanical object feel sculptural. Coupé and roadster forms are related but distinct; its position expresses our assessment of the design, not a universal verdict on beauty.
