Lisbon earns seventh by pairing Alfama’s lanes and river views with Belém’s monumental waterfront. The Jerónimos Monastery gives a different architectural focus from the older neighbourhoods, adding variety to the visit.
It beats Prague on that contrast, but Amsterdam wins for our preference for an easier central walking plan plus concentrated art choices. Alfama has steep inclines: leave room for pauses and plan Belém as a separate outing. Prefer Lisbon if neighbourhood atmosphere and viewpoints outweigh a museum-led city break.
