The Cordillera Blanca gives this Peruvian park a landscape of glaciated peaks, high valleys and alpine lakes. Its tropical location makes those ice-shaped forms especially striking. Huascarán belongs here for the scale and diversity of the mountain environment, not because every route suits casual walkers. Choose an outing appropriate to acclimatization and experience; enjoying a valley does not require attempting the park’s highest mountain.
