A triangular pediment crowns the entrance front of the Jefferson Memorial. The sculpture inside it depicts the committee presenting the Declaration of Independence. Separate that carved scene from the triangular architectural frame surrounding it.
Look for the horizontal bottom edge and the two sloping sides above. This feature belongs here because it gives a name to a familiar classical silhouette. Compare it with the portico at #8: the pediment is the crown of the composition, while the portico is a roofed space supported by columns.
