Santa Maria del Mar offers Catalan Gothic space rather than Modernisme ornament: look at how slender columns frame the nave. The basilica’s cultural visit lists the interior, towers, roof levels, museum space and crypt. Check access conditions rather than assuming every route suits everyone.
Its spatial contrast beats Amatller. The Barcelona Pavilion takes eighth for a more radical change in architectural thinking. Respect worship here, and distinguish cultural visiting hours from free entry outside them; roof access is not promised at any hour.
