The original PlayStation offers Final Fantasy VII’s role-playing adventure, Tomb Raider’s exploration and Tekken’s fighting. Sony’s retrospective documents these games and the move to CDs. This entry covers the original console family, rather than the 2018 PlayStation Classic mini reissue.
It beats Mega Drive because we prefer that spread of 3D adventures and fighting games. SNES ranks higher for our taste in 2D play. Readers who enjoy discovering early 3D worlds can reverse those two; readers who want brisk arcade-style sessions may put Sega ahead.
